NEW – Subaru EyeSight Drive Assist Technology Available for the first time in Europe on the 2015 Subaru Outback
With Subaru’s EyeSight drive assistance technology, you can experience an even more confident and safer drive. Acting as a second pair of eyes, the system monitors driving and traffic conditions and alerts you if it senses impending danger. And the system steps in if it detects you still do not take evasive action to avoid a collision, the brakes can be automatically applied just before the collision in order to reduce impact damage, or if possible, prevent the collision. The system can adjust the speed for you in stop-and-go traffic, or even warn if you sway from your driving lane.
The EyeSight system is made up of two high-definition color cameras (mounted by the rear-view mirror) and highly sophisticated software. Not only does the system recognize objects such as vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, rail guards and drive lanes, it also can judge their potential risk. First it gives a visual and audio alert if it detects you’re about to hit an obstacle. Then if it detects that no evasive action, EyeSight can engage by increasing brake force. Essentially it can come down to help reducing the risk of accidents, by giving Subaru Outback drivers an extra pair of eyes when they need it.
